AROUND THE BLOCK
For Collection #07 Hellen shows a series of garments loosely inspired by the iconic landscape photographer Ansel Adams. This input is visible through the raw organic effect within Hellen’s signature usage of yarns upon layers of wool or silk. The natural fabrics have a soft texture that is opposed by sharp and slightly glossy black silicone that refers to the work of Russian constructivist painter Malevic. Whith these contrasts an image of a contemporary strong woman emerges in garments that challenge the status quo but are at the same time straight forward and wearable because of their simple shape. Loose silk shirts, slightly structured wool tops, elegant wrap and pencil skirts and easy dresses.
